This sculpture was created when Joan and Phil Shiraki of Sedona asked me to sculpt a likeness of their favorite pet turtle--the largest of the 3 represented in this sculpture.  Phil presented me with quite a challenge when he asked me to do a “turtle action piece.”  The species I’ve sculpted are a “Gulf Coast Box Turtle” (on top) and two Eastern Box Turtles.  They are enjoying berries and snails by the stream.
